Deo was born and raised on the slopes of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro, where his love for nature and wildlife began to flourish. From an early age, he knew this was where he belonged. Starting out as a mechanic, Deo’s journey into the tourism industry began after he completed his education in tourism and took on the role of a driver guide. With over a decade of experience working as an employed guide, he eventually transitioned to freelance guiding, where he continued to nurture his dream of a deeper connection to community-based tourism.
In 2012, Deo co-founded Lemasani Safari with his partner, Sonia. Their vision was simple yet powerful: to combine exceptional safari experiences with meaningful community impact. Today, Deo’s guiding expertise and commitment to sustainable tourism have made Lemasani Safari a trusted name in the industry.
A multilingual guide fluent in Kiswahili, English, and French, Deo is also Lemasani’s premier birding expert, celebrated for his deep knowledge of Tanzania’s bird species. He actively shares this expertise by organizing and leading birding training sessions for fellow guides, ensuring that Lemasani Safari continues to uphold high standards of knowledge and service.

Sonia Moradian grew up in Sweden, rooted in a rich Armenian and Iranian heritage. Her journey to Tanzania began in 2011, and since then, she has lived, studied, and worked across the country, making Arusha her home near the vibrant landscapes of Northern Tanzania. Sonia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Career & Guidance Counselling, complemented by studies in political science. Her research thesis, conducted in Dodoma, focused on “the socioeconomic factors in choosing higher education,” deepening her connection to Tanzania’s educational and social dynamics.
Together with her partner, Deo, Sonia co-manages Lemasani Safari, blending her passion for people and the natural world into memorable and transformative experiences for guests. She is multilingual, fluent in Swedish, English, Armenian, Farsi, and Kiswahili, reflecting her diverse background and commitment to cross-cultural understanding.
